“Permission Denied” when trying to access a shared folder inside a linux guest in VirtualBox

Here is an easy fix if you get permission denied after you’ve shared some folders on a linux guest machine under Virtualbox.

Open a terminal and type

sudo usermod -a -G vboxsf username

Where username is the user trying to access the folder. Log out or restart your session and now you will be able to access the folder 🙂
